This paper is set in the context of the need to reflect on a new methodology in teaching practice, following the constant changes in society in order to preserve the essence of people of their culture and identity. The Portuguese Speaking Countries (PALOPs), were object of study, through the knowledge of paperweights including narratives of each country, including Portugal. The analogy between design and education promoted an interface between these two areas, giving importance to the knowledge of the local culture during the design process. This communication allowed presenting a proposal in a creation of a product, highlighting throughout this work the different cultures. The creation of a playful product associated with to design, allowed to contemplate a set of information, valuing the local culture. Giving the possibility to share this knowledge through the experience in the classroom with students from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, between 6 to 10 years. A product was created by the students (Palopas), accumulating the knowledge of materials, techniques and tools, extending their knowledge in the design of the production of this product. All this process has been followed by constant research of the elements to be included in the production of Palopas that would transmit the cultural value and development of each student learning.por
