A contribuição e a importância do teatro na educação integral da criança

Abstract

O presente trabalho apresenta uma investigação a respeito da contribuição e da importância do teatro na educação integral da criança. Discute a realização de atividades teatrais na escola como prática educativa motivadora da aprendizagem, da interação social e da expressão individual dos sujeitos. O teatro é uma modalidade artística que privilegia o uso da linguagem e promove o desenvolvimento da imaginação e do pensamento generalizante. Como atividade coletiva, o teatro promove uma forma especial de interação e cooperação entre os sujeitos. A análise do processo e dos resultados foi feita a partir do referencial teórico de Koudela, Viola Spolin, Boal, Vygotsky os quais inscrevem o nosso trabalho numa perspectiva histórica e cultural. Este trabalho relata e avalia uma experiência com um grupo de crianças, durante uma oficina de teatro, numa escola, e os efeitos dessa atividade no processo educacional. A metodologia utilizada foi a investigação-ação, aplicada para uma turma do quinto ano do ensino básico, na ilha de São Vicente – Cabo Verde. O trabalho foi realizado com dezoito crianças com idades compreendidas entre dez e doze anos. Os resultados obtidos confirmam a linguagem teatral como recurso valiosíssimo e privilegiado para a aprendizagem de conteúdos científicos no meio escolar. Estes resultados encontram eco no referencial teórico na medida em que a linguagem teatral, através da riqueza dos seus recursos, disponibiliza ao aluno uma maior quantidade de mediações semânticas, as quais acrescentam às mediações estritamente conceituais um sentido mais amplo, permitindo dessa maneira que o aluno se aproprie do conhecimento de maneira mais significativa. O teatro revela-se como um importante e eficiente recurso psicopedagógico, de vasta possibilidade de utilização dentro da escola, reduzindo ou eliminando alguns obstáculos no processo educativo e no desenvolvimento integral dos educandos. O estudo permitiu concluir sobre os efeitos positivos da prática de teatro na motivação, criatividade, comunicação e expressão, timidez e autoconhecimento dos alunos.

This dissertation presents the results of an investigation regarding the contribution and importance of theatre for the comprehensive education of children. It discusses the implementation of theatrical activities in school as an educational practice to motivate learning, social interaction and individual expression. Theatre is an art form that emphasizes the use of language and promotes the development of imagination and general thinking. As a collective activity, theatre promotes a special form of interaction and cooperation between subjects. The analysis of the process and of the results was situated within the theoretical frameworks of Koudela, Viola Spolin, Boal and Vygotsky, which impart a historical and cultural perspective to the research. The dissertation describes and evaluates the implementation of a theatre workshop with a group of children at school, and the effects of this activity on the educational process. The chosen methodology was action research, carried out with a class of fifth grade primary school children on the island of Sao Vicente in Cape Verde. The work was carried out with eighteen children aged between ten and twelve. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis that theatrical language constitutes an extremely rich and valuable resource for learning the contents of science in school. These results corroborate the postulates of the theoretical framework adopted which argue that the language of theatre, through the richness of its resources, provides the student with a greater amount of semantic mediation which, by broadening the meanings of the strictly conceptual mediations, allows the student to appropriate knowledge more meaningfully. Theatre is thus revealed as an important and efficient psycho-pedagogical resource, with a vast possibility of uses within school that helps to reduce or eliminate some of the obstacles present in the educational process and in the comprehensive development of students. The study is able to confirm the positive effects of theatre upon the motivation, creativity, communication and expression, shyness and self-knowledge of the students.
