This report was developed within the Supervised Teaching Practice II (STP II) of the Masters in Pre-School Education and Primary School Teaching. The practice took place in a primary school in the district of Viana do Castelo, in a 4th grade class for fifteen weeks. The research project focused on the area of Physical-Motor Education. This study involved 60 students and the goal was to assess their performance in the fundamental motor skills and verify if in the end of the primary school the children reach those skills. In order to do that the following question - issue was defined: – Within Physical-Motor Education in what level of the fundamental motor skills are the students positioned when they finish primary school? To answer this question it was necessary to set research goals such as: assess the motor performance of children in locomotion and manipulation skills; compare the motor performance of children considering gender; determine the most frequent mistakes in the performance of the different fundamental motor skills. In this study we chose a quantitative and descriptive research method. To do so a checklist for each of the skills was created, according to the criteria presented by Gallahue and Ozmun (2005). The results of the study showed that despite being 4th graders some children still have not acquired the fundamental motor skills, as all of them should be in a mature level and some of them are still in the elementary and beginner stages. It was also verified that the boys that are for the most part in a mature level and in the locomotion skills were superior in the vertical jump whereas the girls were superior in the galloping skill. In the manipulative skills there were differences in the dribbling and kicking skills, where the boys demonstrated once more their superiority.
