This report was developed within the scope of the Supervised Teaching Practice II course, which is part of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education. This research project focused on the area of motor expression and it aimed at improving the motor performance of children at the level of manipulative skills. In order to carry out this project, the following objectives – specific ones – were set: to describe and compare the motor performance of the children, in the various manipulative skills, before and after the intervention; to compare the motor performance of the children, in the various manipulative skills, according to gender, before and after the intervention; to compare the motor performance of the children, in the diverse manipulative skills, according to a reference group, before and after the intervention. The methodology adopted was of a quantitative and descriptive / comparative nature. The data was collected through observation and audiovisual records. Eighteen children (13 boys and 5 girls) participated in the study. These were between four and six years of age and came from a Kindergarten within the Monserrate School Grouping. The motor performance was evaluated through the PDMS - 2 scale (Peabody Developmental Motor Scales - 2), before and after the intervention. Globally, children improved their performance on all manipulative skills. The skill that obtained greater progress was kicking and the one that registered the smallest progress was target throwing (underhand) at a distance of 165cm. This study reinforces the importance of the stimulation and intentional practice of child motor sessions so that children can progress in the execution of these skills in order to reach the mature stage of the fundamental motor skills.
