Breathable dusts are often invisible to the naked eye and they are so light that can remain in the air for long periods of time. These dusts are also able to cross large distances, suspended in the air, and may affect workers who are apparently not at risk. It is well known that, during rehabilitation works, the production of dust through the dismantling of materials increases and may become dangerous, at small or long term, to the exposed workers. Occupational risk prevention is much more effective, and generally cheaper, when it is considered from the stage of planning of the premises and work processes, that is, with the anticipation of the risks. The way a worker performs a task can noticeably affect exposure, so it is important to train the workers for good safety practices. Examples of work practices that affect exposure may include, but are not limited to, care in the transfer of powdered materials, work speed and body posture to perform the task. Correct handling of the material and use of collective and individual protection equipment are also essential points to be considered.
