The communication is one of the human basic activities, so the need for communication is itself innate and universal. The relevance of the problematic is still part of a context in which it is assumed that it is impossible not to communicate, because all behavior communicates something. The communication process in the healthcare system have high importance, because they are related with several areas and contexts of the healthcare, namely with the relationship established by the healthcare professionals with the users and their satisfaction. In the present, the satisfaction of the users with the healthcare institutions is one fundamental indicator when the healthcare institutions are improving their services. With the present study, quantitative, transversal and descriptive correlational, we pretend to evaluate the user satisfaction with the communication with the healthcare professionals, in a integrated hospital on a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS - Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social), located in the north region of our country. To be effective we used the questionnaire “Evaluation of user satisfaction in communication with health professionals” created and validated for the Portuguese population (Santos, 2013). The questionnaire was applied to a sample of 204 users of the medical and surgical services (consultation and hospitalization), was defined a significance level of 5% for it. The surveyed population was mostly female (59.8%), resident in urban environment (67.6%) and with and average age ± standard deviation (DP) of 43.58 ± 15.83 years, ranging from 19 to 83 years old. There is heterogeneity of academic qualifications, of which 23.5% have the primary school and 23% have a university degree. In terms of results, it was found that the applied instrument obtained a Cronbach's alpha of 0.871, indicating good reliability and the dimension of satisfaction with the highest average value was the "Respect" (! = 4.161 ± DP = 0.705) with the medium values was the "Problems Solving (! = 2.495 ± DP = 1.245) and the “Material Support” (! = 2.962 ± DP = 1.023). There were only statistically significant differences in satisfaction regarding the number of contacts and in relation to the area of residence. In summary, we conclude that the satisfaction of the users with the communication with healthcare professionals was positive. However, the introduction of improvement measures related to the dimensions "Supporting Material" and "Problems Solving" is recommended, in order to increase the level of satisfaction.
