Microscópio e conceito de célula: um estudo com alunos do 5º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

Neste relatório é apresentado o trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito da PES II, na qual foi desenvolvida uma investigação na disciplina de Ciências Naturais. A interação que ocorreu com os alunos e o professor-investigador antes da regência da disciplina de ciências naturais permitiu verificar que os alunos não se sentiam motivados. Com o intuito de reverter esta situação, e tendo em conta o tema a lecionar “A célula – unidade básica da vida”, optou-se pela realização de aulas práticas com utilização do microscópio ótico composto, optou-se pela realização de aulas mais dinâmicas e facilitar a sua aprendizagem através do microscópio ótico composto (MOC). Pretendia-se verificar as dificuldades de alunos do 5º ano no manuseamento do MOC, e aferir das suas potencialidades para as aprendizagens dos alunos, nomeadamente no que concerne ao conceito de célula. Optou-se por uma metodologia de caráter qualitativo, dando-se primazia a métodos de recolha de dados como a observação, desenhos, questionários, entrevista, produção textual e fotografia. A intervenção pedagógica foi realizada ao longo de oito aulas, sendo que a primeira aula foi dedicada à introdução do tema a trabalhar e a última aula à realização de uma ficha de avaliação. No geral, os alunos não apresentaram dificuldades no cumprimento das regras de transporte e manuseamento seguro do MOC. A maioria não teve dificuldade em montar, focar e iluminar a preparação a observar. A principal dificuldade apresentada pelos alunos no manuseamento do MOC, prende-se com a observação utilizando os dois olhos. Os resultados apontam no sentido de ter existido uma progressão positiva ao longo das aulas quanto à utilização do MOC e que a sua utilização contribuiu positivamente para a aprendizagem de conceitos associadas à célula. Além disso, levou ao aumento do interesse dos alunos nas aulas de Ciências Naturais.

This report presents the work developed in the scope of PES II, in which an investigation was developed in the discipline of Natural Sciences. The interaction that occurred with the students and the teacher-researcher before the regency of the discipline of natural sciences allowed to verify that the students did not feel motivated. In order to revert this situation, and taking into account the theme of "The cell - basic unit of life", it was decided to perform practical classes using the composite optical microscope (MOC). It was intended to verify the difficulties of 5th grade students in the MOC manipulation, and to assess its potentialities for students' learning, regarding the cell concept. It was chosen a qualitative methodology, giving priority to methods of data collection such as observation, drawings, questionnaires, interview, textual production and photography. The pedagogical intervention was carried out during eight classes, being the first class dedicated to the introduction of the theme and the last lesson to the realization of an evaluation form. In general, the students did not present difficulties in complying with the rules of transportation and safe handling of the MOC. Most had no difficulty in setting, focusing and illuminating the preparation to observe. The main difficulty presented by the students in the handling of the MOC is the observation using the two eyes. The results indicate that there has been a positive progression in the capacity to use the MOC along classes and that its use has contributed positively to the learning of concepts associated with the cell. In addition, it led to an increase students´interest in Natural Sciences classes.
