This report is part of the Supervised Teaching Practice II (PES II) unit of the Master's in Pre-School Education and was developed in a kindergarten in the municipality of Viana do Castelo. This is divided into three distinct chapters, and the first chapter it concerns the characterization of the environment, the kindergarten and the group of children where the PES II took place. The second chapter refers to the study carried out in the same context, and finally, in the third chapter, a final reflection on the Supervised Teaching Practice II will be presented, followed by a conclusion of the bibliography and the annexes study. The above-mentioned study was developed around the following four research questions: "What kind of relationship do children establish with their companion animal (s)?"; "What awareness do the animals have of the animal as a living being?"; "What attitudes and behaviors do children reveal to their companion animal (s)?" and "What kind of knowledge may emerge from the interest in the needs of animals?". Aiming to answer the research questions highlighted, five research objectives: to know the general panorama of the target group as to the belonging of companion animals; to perceive the type of relationship that, in the family, they established with their animal(s); to verify the general awareness of the child to the animal as a living being endowed with sensitivity, personality and rights; promote activities that allow the identification of children's attitudes and behaviors towards animals and promote activities that promote conscious and ecological knowledge and attitudes. For the accomplishment of the study a qualitative methodology was designed with a case study design. The data collection was carried out in the kindergarten in which the PES took place, involving 24 children 5 years of age completed at the time of the beginning of the collection. Diverse techniques and instruments were used, ranging from the interview surveys conducted with each of the participants and a dossier entitled "Our special friends", which circulated within each child's family and through which it was possible to collect several information records reflecting the position of the companion animal(s) in the life of each child. Eleven activities were also developed during which it was possible to observe the children's interest and dialogues regarding the different approaches, as well as to verify their behavior in child-animal interaction. Thus, participant observation, photographic records, audio and video were techniques to which this study appealed. The results indicate that all children have companion animals. The relationship that the participants establish with their animals points to some differences and there are common points among certain groups of children. The presence of the animal in the room, although punctual, was a positive aspect contributing and enhancing the fluidity and articulation between the activities contributing to its contextualization and pertinence.
