O re-design de parte do traje de romeiro de Mondim de Basto

Abstract

Esta dissertação em design pretende analisar e examinar parte do traje Romeiro de Mondim de Basto da região de Trás-os Montes, redesenhando-o com uma linguagem renovada e atual. A investigação está organizada em três fases. Por um lado, a primeira fase e a segunda fase beneficiam da escolha de uma metodologia mista que cruza o trabalho de revisão bibliográfica com entrevistas e a realização de inquéritos a residentes, emigrantes e turistas que visitam o município nas festas do Romeiro. Este processo metodológico permite identificar a parte do traje mais apreciada pelas pessoas que vivem as festas. Por outro lado, a experimentação de materiais e o trabalho com costureiras está tratada na terceira fase deste estudo, que recupera no âmbito do vestuário o cenário que poderá permitir a rentabilização e a sobrevivência de um património de conhecimentos existentes. O objetivo principal da investigação é dignificar este património cultural, através de uma interpretação portadora de significado e potenciadora de novos desafios para a cultura tradicional, conferindo-lhe uma nova identidade na realidade contemporânea. Quando o design constrói uma ligação honesta entre as qualidades produtivas e a história da cultura material pode, igualmente, criar um produto sustentável e inovador. Com esta investigação pretende-se demonstrar que a conexão entre o design e o artesanato constitui um sistema, simultaneamente, essencial à criação e à disseminação de um produto singular, veiculador do espirito do lugar de Mondim de Basto.

This dissertation in design intends to analyze and examine part of the Romeiro costume of Mondim de Basto of the region of Trás-os Montes, redesigning it with a renewed and current language. The investigation is organized in three phases. On one hand, the first phase and the second phase benefit from the choice of a mixed methodology that crosses the work of bibliographic review with interviews and surveys of residents, emigrants and tourists who visit the municipality at Romeiro parties. This methodological process allows us to identify the part of the costume most appreciated by the people who lives the parties. On the other hand, the experimentation of materials and the work with seamstresses is dealt with in the third phase of this study, which recovers in the context of clothing the scenario that may allow the profitability and survival of an existing knowledge heritage. The main objective of the research is to dignify this cultural heritage, through a meaningful interpretation and potentiating new challenges for traditional culture, giving it a new identity in a contemporary reality. When design builds an honest link between productive qualities and the history of material culture, it can likewise, create a sustainable and innovative product. The aim of this research is to demonstrate that the connection between design and craftsmanship is at the same time an essential system for the creation and dissemination of a unique product carrier of the spirit of Mondim de Basto.
