The National Health System has been placing the citizen at the center of the system, in a logic of effective proximity and humanization of services. For this greater attention in care, the role of nursing has been fundamental. It is a demanding profession that requires daily practice that ensures not only the provision of technical health care, but also a major concern for care - or caring for patients and affected families. Thus, given the complexity of providing care in the intraoperative context, we understand pertinent as a subject of nuclear investigation as experiences of the family of the person undergoing surgery and, therefore, we define the objective of presenting the present study as experiences of the family of the person undergoing surgery in the intraoperatively. Context and method. This qualitative study included a sample of eight individuals who were selected based on the assumptions. Of these, seven were female and had a family relationship with the person undergoing surgery. Given the nature of the study, the semistructured interview was chosen as a data collection strategy through an interview guide that was built based on the literature review and the study objectives. Results. Having carried out the content analysis of the interviews, we obtained five main thematic areas: family needs of the person who underwent surgery intraoperatively; feelings experienced by the family of the person who underwent surgery intraoperatively; difficulties experienced by the family of the person undergoing surgery intraoperatively; facilitating aspects experienced by the family of the person undergoing surgery intraoperatively; and suggestions given by families of patients in the intraoperative context. Conclusion. The results presented are in line with the literature in the field and suggest the need to reinforce the nurse's role when welcoming the surgical patient and his family to the service, as well as during and at the end of the surgery, paying special attention to the needs and Family expectations. It is also very important to create the necessary conditions for the establishment of a trusting relationship that allows the necessary will to express the insecurities, doubts or fears and improve the information procedures to the family, making them faster and more effective as this proved to be a nuclear aspect to improve the intraoperative family experience.
