A importância dos jogos no ensino da matemática : um estudo com alunos do 1.º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

Este relatório foi realizado no âmbito da unidade curricular Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES), disciplina integrante do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.ᵒ Ciclo do Ensino Básico, da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo. O projeto de investigação, focalizado na área da matemática, realizou-se numa escola do distrito de Viana do Castelo, no qual participaram 24 alunos do 1.º ano de escolaridade. No que se refere ao objetivo do estudo, este visa perceber a importância dos jogos no ensino da matemática por alunos do 1.º ano de escolaridade. Para orientar o estudo foram delineadas três questões de investigação: 1) Que conceitos e estratégias são mobilizados pelos alunos enquanto jogam?; 2) Que atitudes e competências manifestam os alunos enquanto jogam?; 3) Que dificuldades manifestam os alunos enquanto jogam? Seguindo o objetivo e as questões de investigação optou-se por realizar um estudo com uma metodologia qualitativa, seguindo um método de investigação-ação. Como instrumentos de recolha de dados foram utilizados os jogos construídos, as folhas de registo preenchidas pelos alunos, as observações e os registos fotográficos e vídeo. Este foi um processo dinâmico e aberto a ajustes necessários para a melhoria dos jogos. Analisando os resultados do estudo, podemos assegurar que os jogos foram benéficos para a compreensão de conteúdos matemáticos e na utilização de diversas estratégias para ganhar os jogos. Para além disso, proporcionaram momentos desafiadores e divertidos, aumentando a motivação, a cooperação e a socialização dos alunos. O percurso vivido durante a PES foi essencial e benéfico para o meu processo de formação enquanto futura educadora e professora, ajudando-me a desenvolver várias competências necessárias para o meu futuro.

This report was carried out within the scope of the Supervised Teaching Practice (PES) curricular unit, part of the master's degree in Pre-School Education and Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. The research project, focused on the area of mathematics, took place in a school in the district of Viana do Castelo, with 24 students from the Grade 1. With regard to the objective of the study, this aims to understand the importance of games to the learning of mathematics by students in the 1st year of schooling. To guide the study, three research questions were outlined: 1) What mathematical concepts and strategies are mobilized by students while playing? 2) What attitudes and skills do students reveal while playing? 3) What difficulties do students reveal while playing? Following the objective and the research questions, it was decided to carry out a study with a qualitative methodology, following an action-research method. As instruments for data collection was built games, registration sheets filled in by students, observations and photographic and video records were used. This was a dynamic process and open to the necessary adjustments to improve the games. Analyzing the results of the study, we can assure that the games were beneficial for the understanding of mathematical content and the use of different strategies to win the games. In addition, they provided challenging and fun moments, increasing students' motivation, cooperation, and socialization. The journey lived during the PES was essential and beneficial to my training process as a future kindergarten educator and primary teacher, helping me to develop several skills necessary for my future.
