O estudo das isometrias e os materiais manipuláveis numa turma do 6.º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

Este relatório surge no âmbito da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES) inserida no curso de Mestrado em Ensino do 1.o CEB e de Matemática e Ciências Naturais no 2.o CEB, da Escola Superior de Educação de Viana do Castelo. Encontra-se dividido em três partes: a primeira evidenciando os contextos educativos, onde foram realizadas as intervenções didáticas, descrevendo acontecimentos importantes ao longo deste percurso; na segunda parte, apresenta-se o estudo realizado numa turma do 2.o CEB na área disciplinar de Matemática; e na terceira parte, é realizada uma reflexão global sobre as experiências vividas durante esta prática. O estudo realizou-se no âmbito da Matemática tendo como foco principal o ensino-aprendizagem das isometrias no plano. Ao longo desta investigação procurou-se compreender o desempenho dos alunos em tarefas no âmbito das isometrias com recurso a materiais manipuláveis e, para orientar este estudo, formularam-se duas questões orientadoras: (1) Como se carateriza o desempenho dos alunos na resolução de tarefas no âmbito das isometrias com materiais manipuláveis, identificando os seus principais conhecimentos e dificuldades? (2) Como se carateriza a reação dos alunos à utilização de materiais manipuláveis no estudo das isometrias? De modo a responder as estas questões, optou-se por utilizar uma metodologia de investigação qualitativa e interpretativa, seguindo um design de estudo de caso, onde se acompanharam dois grupos-caso compostos por três elementos cada. A recolha de dados foi realizada através de observações, questionários, entrevista, registo áudio e fotográfico e documentos escritos, em particular a produções realizadas pelos alunos nas tarefas propostas. A análise destes dados permitiu concluir que os alunos apresentaram um desempenho positivo em relação à resolução de tarefas propostas sobre isometrias utilizando materiais manipuláveis. De salientar que as maiores dificuldades sentidas no âmbito das isometrias incidem na rotação e na simetria de rotação. Por outro lado, a maior preferência aponta para a reflexão axial. Em relação aos materiais manipuláveis houve uma reação bastante positiva à sua utilização, sendo que a maioria dos alunos deu preferência ao Mira, mostrando maiores dificuldades na utilização do transferidor de 360°.

This report appears within the scope of the Supervised Teaching Practice (PES) of the Master’s Degree in Teaching of the 1st Basic School and Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the 2nd Basic School, of the Escola Superior de Educação de Viana do Castelo. The report is divided into three parts: the first highlighting the educational contexts, where didactic interventions were carried out, describing important events along this route; in the second part, the study carried out in a class of the 2nd Basic School in the disciplinary area of Mathematics is presented; and in the third part, a global reflection is carried out on the experiences lived during this practice. This study was developed in the scope of Mathematics where its main focus was the teaching and learning of the isometries of the plane. Throughout this research, we tried to understand the performance of students through isometry tasks using manipulative materials and, to guide this study two research questions were formulated: (1) How can we characterize the students’ performance when solving isometry tasks with manipulative materials, identifying their main knowledge and difficulties? (2) How can we characterize the students' reaction to the use of manipulative materials in the study of isometries? To answer these questions, this study followed a qualitative and interpretive research, using an exploratory case study design developed with two case-groups with three students each. The data collection was made trough observations, questionnaires, interview, audio and photographic records and written documents, in particular, the productions done by the students to proposed tasks. The analysis of these data allowed us to conclude that the students presented a positive performance in relation to the resolution of proposed tasks using manipulative materials. It should be noted that the greatest difficulties experienced in the scope of isometry affect rotation and symmetry of rotation. On the other hand, the higher preference points to axial reflection. In relation to the manipulative materials, most preferred the mira, showing greater difficulties in the use of the 360° protractor.
