Os 3 R’s: estudo investigativo com crianças em idade Pré- Escolar

Abstract

O presente Relatório de Estágio surge no âmbito da unidade curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES), inserida no Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo e está dividido em três partes que envolvem a caracterização dos contextos de PES, um trabalho investigativo e uma reflexão final. A PES decorreu num Jardim de Infância situado numa freguesia de Viana do Castelo com um grupo de vinte crianças, com idades compreendidas entre os três e os seis anos. O estudo incidiu sobre a temática dos 3 R’s, visto que se percebeu que as crianças se preocupavam em fazer a separação dos resíduos na sala, contudo tinham dúvidas sobre os locais corretos. Perante estas observações, e percebendo que era um tema que as crianças mostravam curiosidade, decidiu-se implementar um conjunto de atividades sobre a temática 3 R’s de modo a consciencializar as crianças para a importância de uma gestão mais sustentável dos resíduos. Face ao tema e ao grupo de participantes, optou-se por um estudo de natureza qualitativa de carácter descritivo/interpretativo, sendo selecionados como métodos e técnicas de recolha de dados a observação, as notas de campo, os meios áudio visuais, os trabalhos elaborados pelas crianças e a entrevista. As crianças mostraram sempre empenho e interesse no decorrer do estudo. Com base nos resultados conclui-se que as crianças ficaram conscientes de que deveriam proceder a uma utilização mais sustentável dos resíduos através da preocupação que estas mostravam (i) em reduzir o número de resíduos que produziam, por exemplo através da utilização de guardanapos de tecido em vez de papel, (ii) em reutilizar materiais nas atividades no JI, (iii) no empenho em separar os resíduo que produziam nos ecopontos corretos e (iv) na realização da reciclagem de óleo alimentar em sabonete. Para além disto, verificou-se que as crianças ampliaram os seus conhecimentos acerca do tema em estudo.

This Report comes within the scope of the curricular unit of Supervised Teaching Practice (PES), inserted in the Master in Pre-School Education and Primary School Education of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo and is divided into three parts that involve the characterization of PES contexts, an investigative work, and a final reflection. The PES took place in a Kindergarten located in a parish of Viana do Castelo with a group of twenty children, aged between three and six years. The study focused on the theme of the 3 R's, since it was noticed that the children were concerned about separating the waste in the room, however they had doubts about the correct places. Faced with these observations and realizing that it was a topic that children were curious about, it was decided to implement a set of activities on the 3 R’s theme in order to raise children’s awareness of the importance of a more sustainable waste management. In view of the theme and the group of participants, we opted for a qualitative study of a descriptive/interpretive nature, with observation, field notes, audio visual media, elaborated works being selected as data collection methods and techniques. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the children became aware that they should proceed with a more sustainable use of waste through the concern they showed (i) in reducing the amount of waste they produced, for example through the use of fabric napkins instead of paper, (ii) in reusing materials in JI activities, (iii) in the effort to separate the waste they produced in the correct ecopoints and (iv) in carrying out the recycling of cooking oil into soap. In addition to this, it was found that the children expanded their knowledge about the subject under study.
