Urgent orders impact on materials management in portuguese construction sector: case study

Abstract

The urgent orders could have an impact on construction company performance since affects the organization of the work in the materials warehouse and enhance stress of workers. In this work, the effect of material urgent orders in a Portuguese construction company was analysed. This project consisted of an exploratory study carried out in two phases, the analysis of data and direct observation of the process. The results show that, in this company, there are no-cost impacts on the operations related to logistics, but with urgent requests, the rate of meeting deadlines is lower.
