marketing e comunicação passa a fazer parte do planeamento estratégico destas
presidência do IPVC.
Higher education in Portugal has evolved considerably over the years, undergoing constant changes and improvements. The search for better education in Portugal is the focus of a large percentage of the Portuguese population. In 2022 there were 433,217 students enrolled in higher education, which corresponds to 4.14% of the Portuguese population. This incessant demand for higher education training has led higher education institutions to develop multiple strategies to increase their attractiveness. It is in this context that these institutions feel the need to differentiate themselves from their competitors. To this end, a commitment to marketing and communication has become part of these organizations' strategic planning. The general objective of this research project is to draw up a strategic marketing plan for the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC) for the 2024-2025 biennium (carried out as part of the development of a comprehensive marketing plan for the institution: including the strategic and operational dimensions). The specific objectives are based on the desire to understand the different perspectives of the Institute's organic units in relation to the different dimensions related to it. Three empirical studies were carried out to fulfill this aim. The first empirical study consisted of exploratory interviews with the presidency of the IPVC. It was possible to listen to all 6 members of the presidency. The second study was based on focus groups with teaching staff, non-teaching staff and student representatives. A total of 29 focus groups were planned, involving the Management of the Organic Units, the Pedagogical Council, the Technical-Scientific Council, the Course Coordinators, the Human Resources Services, the Social Action Services, the Communication and Image Office, the Promotion and Communication Elements, the Academic Federation and the Academic Associations. The third study aimed to understand the perspective of IPVC students by administering a questionnaire survey to a sample of 1,762 individuals. In general, the studies showed that we are dealing with an institution that is highly recognized internally and externally, well integrated in the district of Viana do Castelo, but which - as a result of its size and heterogeneity - needs countless optimizations in its process of development and affirmation as a higher education institution of reference on the national scene. |
