Mais vale um livro na mão do que dois na estante: educação literária no pré-escolar

Abstract

O presente trabalho desenvolveu-se no âmbito da unidade curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada (PES), do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Visou descrever e analisar a ação educativa desenvolvida com um grupo de 20 crianças com idades compreendidas entre os 3 e os 6 anos de idade e incidiu na Área de Expressão e Comunicação, nomeadamente no Domínio Da Linguagem Oral e Abordagem à Escrita, interligando- se com a temática da promoção da leitura. Este trabalho teve como propósito perceber como promover o gosto pela leitura literária e como criar hábitos leitores na educação pré-escolar. Assim sendo, foram proporcionados às crianças variados momentos de contacto com os livros, através de estratégias de animação de leitura, utilizando vários recursos e explorando elementos paratextuais, entre outros. Formulamos ainda algumas questões secundárias para nos ajudar no estudo, tais como: Qual a perceção da leitura de um conjunto de crianças em contexto pré-escolar?; Que estratégias utilizadas pelo professor/educador no momento da leitura de um livro contribuem (ou não) para o gosto das crianças pela leitura?; Como despertar o hábito leitor na educação pré-escolar? Recorremos a uma metodologia mista e recolhemos dados a partir da observação participante, documentação fotográfica e inquérito por entrevista às crianças e à educadora responsável. Os resultados deste estudo revelaram que, após as atividades efetuadas, pela diversidade dos momentos de leitura, das estratégias que utilizamos para a animação da leitura e da constante renovação dos livros do cantinho da leitura, entre outros, a leitura literária passou a ser um momento apreciado pelas crianças.

The present study was developed within the curricular unit of Supervised Teaching Practice (STP) of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. It aims to describe and analyze the educational action developed in a group of 20 children aged between 3 and 6 years old, and focused on the Area of Expression and Communication, namely the Domain of Oral Language and Approach to Writing, interconnecting with the thematic of reading promotion. This work investigates how we can promote the taste and pleasure of literary reading among preschool children, to create reading habits later. Therefore, children are provided with various opportunities to experience different books, through reading animation strategies, including diverse resources and exploration of textual elements. After this study and these interactions, it is intended that children interact differently with the reading moment, exhibiting increased enthusiasm and commitment. We formulated a few secundary questions to help us in the study, such as : What is the reading´s perception of a group of children in pre-school context?; Which estrategies used by the techer/educator in the reading moment of a book contribute (or not) for the children´s taste in reading?; How to increase the reading habit in pre-school’s education? A mixed methodology was employed. Data was collected through participant observation, photographic documentation, and an interview with children and with the responsible educator. The results of this study revealed that, after the implemented activities, reading moments, the employed reading animation strategies and the renewal of books in the reading corner, among others, became enjoyable experiences for the children.
