In Portugal there are fourteen wine regions, with the Vinho Verde Region being one of the largest in Europe and the third largest in Portugal in terms of production area. To mitigate the effects of climate change, it is necessary to irrigate the vineyard, as water stress at certain phenological stages affects the quality of the grapes and the productivity of the vines. However, the availability of water must be controlled and adequate to avoid either water excess, resulting in root asphyxia, or water deficit, causing water stress in the plant. The plant's water needs vary according to the water content in the soil, climatic conditions and the phenological state of the plant. The objectives of this work were to assess the water status of Vitis Vinifera cv. Loureiro subjected to different irrigation strategies and to determine the crop coefficients of Vitis Vinifera cv. Loureiro using remote sensing techniques, comparing the soil water balance approach and vegetation indices. The methodology adopted made it possible to calculate the crop's evapotranspiration using daily data provided by a weather station; to monitor the water content in the soil using a portable capacitive probe; to monitor the plant's water status using a pressure chamber (Scholander model), determining the branch's water potential; the NDVI vegetation index by acquiring satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle images and then calibrating and validating the NDVI and Kcb values. |
