Abstract: A esperança de vida tem aumentado em todo o mundo. Viver mais e com qualidade tornou-se um grande desafio de modo que o estudo deste assunto tornou-se relevante nos últimos tempos. A presente investigação foi norteada pelos seguintes objetivos: avaliar a qualidade de vida de idosos institucionalizados; estudar as relações das dimensões da QdV face às cacateristicas sociodemográficas da população e propor ações de melhoria assentes nos resultados do estudo. Este trabalho trata-se de uma investigação do tipo analitico, observacional e transversal desenvolvido numa IPSS da região Norte. Para o efeito, recorreu-se ao questionário SF-36 Versão 2 e ao EQ-5D. Foram inquiridos 37 participantes, 64.9 % mulheres e 35.1 % homens com uma idade média ± de 79.38 anos ± 7.94 anos, a variar entre 62 e 96 anos. Maioritariamente são casados, com o máximo de 4 anos de escolaridade e há 13 analfabetos. Em relação à QdV, a dimensão com pontuação mais elevada é o desempenho emocional com uma média ± dp de 42,30 ±31.17. A nível geral, os homens com menos de 75 anos de grupo “casados, viúvos ou divorciados” e com algum grau de escolaridade apresentam melhor QdV. A qdV dos idosos é relativamente baixa quando comparada com o nível geral da população portuguesa. As conclusões deste estudo são sustentáveis de serem analisadas pela gestãi de organização no sentido de repensar nos modelos de reorganização da instituição
Life expectancy has been rising all around the world. Living more and with quality has become a great challenge so, the studies about this matter became relevant this past yers. This research has been guided by the following goals: evaluate its quality of life of institutionalised elders; study the relationships of the dimensions of quality of life of the socialdemographics caracteristics of the population and propose actions to improve the results gotten in this study. The kind of this investigation is descriptive, observational, correllacional and transversal and it was developes in a IPSS in the North Region. In this regard, it was used the questionary SF-36 version 2 and the questionary EQ-5D. It was surveyed 37 participants, 24 women and 13 men, with an average age of ±79.38 yers old with a standart deviation of ± 7.94, between 62 years old and 96 yers old. Mostly of the elders are married whit a maximum of 4 years of education, having abouit 35 % of illiterate elders. As for quality of life, the dimensio with the highes score is emotional performance with an average of ±90.09 yers old whit a standart deviation of ± 16.65 and the dimension with the lowest score is physical function with an average of ± 42.30 years old with a standart deviation of ± 31.17. In general, the group of men younger than 75 years old. That is or has been in a formal marital relationship and are literate, show better scores in regard to their life quality Life quality of the institutionalised elders are reasonable but these have the ideia that solitude is very present between them. The elements of management must promote actions of coexistence between the elders and the elements of management and their families.
