O espírito do lugar no design de joalharia portuguesa : a Eleuterio Jewels como caso de estudo

Abstract

Com esta dissertação pretende-se desenvolver uma linha de joalharia capaz de unir o espírito de um lugar e seus valores culturais com o Design e a técnica de joalharia portuguesa da filigrana num cruzamento com o contexto africano, pensado para o âmbito da joalharia de luxo. Trata-se de um projeto com o objetivo de criar um sistema de produto “mestiço”, capaz de fundir as culturas portuguesa e angolana, a portuguesa através da técnica da filigrana e a angolana através dos típicos panos coloridos africanos. Uma parceria com a Eleuterio Jewels, empresa sediada no Norte de Portugal, na Póvoa Lanhoso, que se dedica desde há muito tempo à preservação, valorização e inovação da filigrana, permitiu a criação de um conjunto de pulseiras capazes de representar o espírito do lugar português e angolano. Portugal e Angola mantêm desde sempre uma forte relação, pelo que se torna possível com este projeto valorizar esta ligação, contribuir para a identidade cultural de ambos os países, e por meio do design de joalharia manter vivos símbolos fortes das suas culturas, tradições, hábitos, costumes. A Eleuterio Jewels, é uma marca de joias cujo design acompanha as tendências atuais, que opera num mercado de luxo com altos padrões de qualidade e acabamentos, trabalha o ouro em sintonia com os diamantes e acima de tudo aplica e preserva a filigrana em todas as peças que produz pelas mãos dos seus artesãos que delicadamente trabalham finos fios de ouro desde há gerações. Estas pulseiras, igualmente produzidas manualmente na sua totalidade contam com a presença dos panos angolanos e a simbologia neles estampada, interpretada por meio do design através dos pendentes em filigrana nelas pendurados.

With this dissertation we intend to develop a line of jewelery capable of uniting the spirit of a place and its cultural values with the Design and technique of Portuguese jewelery of the filigree in a crossroads with the African context, designed for the scope of luxury jewelery. It is a project with the objective of creating a "mestizo" product system, capable of merging the Portuguese and Angolan cultures, the Portuguese through the filigree technique and the Angolan through the typical African colored cloths. A partnership with Eleuterio Jewels, a company based in the North of Portugal, in Póvoa Lanhoso, which has been dedicated for a long time to the preservation, valorization and innovation of the filigree, allowed the creation of a set of bracelets capable of representing the spirit of the Portuguese place and Angolan. Portugal and Angola have always maintained a strong relationship, so it is possible with this project to value this connection, to contribute to the cultural identity of both countries, and through the design of jewelery to keep alive strong symbols of their cultures, traditions, habits, mores. Eleuterio Jewels is a jewelry brand whose design keeps pace with current trends, operates in a luxury market with high quality standards and finishes, works gold in tune with diamonds and above all applies and preserves watermark in all pieces he produces by the hands of his artisans who have delicately worked fine threads of gold for generations. These bracelets, also produced by hand in their entirety, have the presence of the Angolan cloths and the symbology stamped on them, interpreted through the design with the filigree pendants hung on them.
