O “design comprometido” de Daciano da Costa no desenvolvimento de acessórios de moda

Abstract

A presente investigação tem o intuito de refletir sobre o papel do Design Comprometido de Daciano da Costa na construção de uma nova solução na área dos acessórios de moda, em parceria com o Município de Monção, que prepara a candidatura da Coca a património material da UNESCO. Este estudo ambiciona legitimar o papel da disciplina do Design de acessórios como mediador da criatividade. Por um lado, trata-se de um projeto com o objetivo de criar um sistema empresarial territorial, com a capacidade de incorporar atividades produtivas portuguesas. Por outro lado, esta é uma oportunidade para qualificar o espírito do lugar de Monção, qualificando a simbologia da Coca (enquanto elemento simbólico e portador de identidade), o linho (como cultura material) e a arte da cestaria (enquanto tradição vernacular). A dissertação divide-se em quatro partes essenciais. A primeira parte reserva-se à revisão bibliográfica e assenta em pesquisas e análise de casos de estudo. A segunda fase orienta-se para um dos objetivos desta investigação, a criação de um sistema de empresas, aliando à cultura do fazer à cultura do projeto. Esta fase destaca-se pelo trabalho de campo realizado com as empresas parcerias, nomeadamente, no auxílio à partilha de técnicas e materiais. A terceira fase destina-se à experimentação e à criação de hipóteses, sendo muito importante refletir sobre o conhecimento adquirido na fase anterior, para assim solucionarmos contratempos que poderão aparecer. Por fim, a quarta e última fase dedica-se à produção do protótipo final. Com esta investigação, pretende-se provar que o Design pode contribuir positivamente na definição de uma rede criativa que ajude o artesanato, não deixando cair em desuso estas técnicas, tecnologias e materiais, implementandoos numa nova produção orientada paras as necessidades das pessoas.

The present investigation aims to reflect the role of Daciano da Costa Committed Design in the construction of a new solution in the area of fashion accessories, in partnership with the County of Monção, which prepares Coca’s application for UNESCO material heritage. This study aims to legitimize the role of the discipline of Accessory Design as creativity mediator. On one hand, it’s a project that has the objective of creating a territorial business system, with the capacity to incorporate portuguese productive activities. On the other hand, this is an opportunity to qualify the spirit of the place of Monção, qualifying Coca’s symbolism (as a symbolic element and identity bearer), the linen (as material culture) and the art of basketry (as a vernacular tradition). The dissertation is divided into four essential parts. The first part, the bibliographical review, is based on research and analysis of study cases. The second phase is oriented towards one of the objectives of this research, the creation of a company system, allying the culture of making to the culture of project. This phase stands out for the work field carried out with the partner companies, namely, in the aid of sharing techniques and materials. The third stage is intended for experimentation and creation of hypotheses and it is very important to reflect on the knowledge acquired in the previous phase, to solve any setbacks that may arise. Finally, the fourth and final phase is dedicated to the production of the final prototype. This investigation intends to prove that Design can contribute positively in the definition of a creative network that helps the crafts, not letting these techniques, technologies and materials fall into disuse, implementing them in a new production oriented to the needs of the people.
