Facha e envolveu vinte e seis alunos a frequentar o 1º ciclo do Ensino Básico, cinco
A metodologia,
questionários e entrevistas. Os registos foram tratados, organizados e sistematizados;
The aim of this research was to investigate theories and practices of heritage education, and specifically some popular art traditions, to bring the School to the Community using a Service Learning approach, with diverse contributions from disciplines of Social Sciences (History, Anthropology, Sociology) and Artistic and Heritage Education in a sense of a true crossing of knowledge. The study took place at the Educational School of Facha, and involved twenty-six students attending the 1st cycle of Basic Education, five children from other parishes, ten teachers and three members of the Associação das Marchas da Seara. After a lack of articulation between the popular Marches of Seara and the Educational School of Facha, at the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, a review of the literature on theories of Heritage Education and Artistic Education was carried. A qualitative methodology was developed through a case study in Freguesia da Seara as it is better suited to the study of the phenomenon. Data was collected through participant observation, diary, photographic and audio recordings, questionnaires and interviews. The records were processed, organized and codified; later they were compared and subjected to an interpretative analysis according to the triangulation technique. The results obtained reveal that 80.8% of the students who collaborate in the Marches are from the parish of Seara and 92.3% of these students say that they knew about them before. It was also found that 60% of teachers and 100% of those in charge of children’s education knew the Marches and knew that they have been around for more than ten years. Moreover, all teachers were motivated enough to involve their students in this tradition in the future. We concluded that the perceptions of all respondents allowed us to understand the importance of this study and that investigations like this one are an influential factor in heritage preservation. Although there has never been a collaboration between the Cultural School of Facha and the Association of the Marches, this investigation contributed to raise everyone awareness to overcome in a creative way the countless obstacles mentioned in this study. As everyone feels motivated for future cooperation, service learning was found as the most appropriate approach. This will not only strengthen the dialogue and communication between the school and the community and but it will also be used to share the experiences lived by social groups at a formal and non-formal level of education. |
