Abstract: This paper presents a study about the potential of math trails as a resource for the teaching and learning of mathematics in a non-formal context. This researched focused on future teachers of basic education and is of qualitative nature. Results showed that the participants evidenced a more positive attitude towards mathematics, broadening their perspective about the connections between mathematics and everyday life. It was also possible to conclude that, despite the design of the tasks through the trail not being diversified or easy, the motivation increased along the experience.
